Paloma Picasso by Paloma Picasso
Paloma Picasso is a classic favourite with the fabulous women in the office. The cologne came out in 1984 and has been a leading contender over the last generation. On Monday morning there was an exciting buzz as everyone was discussing our perfume of the week, their fond memories of family, friends and themselves wearing it over the years.
I have been a fan of Paloma's designs since I received my first 'kiss' at Tiffany's (the X necklace) in the early uhmmmm... early 1980's. But I, to the shock and disbelief of Elaine, could not recall the scent. My first spray on Monday was not a love at first inhalation, another shock and disbelief for Elaine! But trying it again on Tuesday I started to understand what they were all talking about and how could I have doubted Ms Picasso's talent.
By Wednesday I wanted to enclose myself in the wafts of spray of this stylish bottle. This is a classic signature perfume! Elegant, intelligent, mysterious with all the right ingredients.
The top notes of neroli, coriander seed, our aroma of the week, bergamot and rose blend in without a skip to the heart of the perfume with jasmine, ylang ylang, the intoxicating patchouli and lily of the valley. The base notes consist of the exotic sandalwood, oakmoss, amber, the enticing tobacco, civet and vetiver.
The combination of scents do not come in the layered stages from top to base but almost in a linear swirl, they, together engulf you with its intense dynamic power.
A kick ass perfume that will be with us for the next generation.
It could have been a great scent for the suffragettes and for all women who stand strong to be counted.
