Today I am wearing Jasmin et Cigarette by Etat Libre
D’Orange.
I’ve been wanting to write about this one for a while. It’s a very clever aroma – pretty yet dirty,
a perfume of contrasts.
Imagine the scent of a finely dressed classy woman who has
sprayed herself with a little expensive jasmine perfume such as Joy by Jean
Patou.
Now imagine that she smokes.
Smell her again in a couple of hours.
She has reapplied the perfume in an attempt to mask the smell of fag-ash
but it hasn’t completely covered it. Now
you can smell expensive perfume mingled with nicotine. Like it or love it, it’s there. .
Created for iconic women who dared break the rules and smoke
in public – think Marlene Dietrich style and era. Stylish, tailored and classy
with her own set of rules.
Initially soft, sweet(ish) and inviting with the lure of
jasmine, apricots, amber and skin-musk (ask the lady for a dance) but somehow
interjected with tobacco, tonka, cedar, hay and turmeric giving it a slightly
dishevelled sweaty smoky besmirched element (is this the aroma of the following
morning?
Did the dance lead to more which in turn has led to the walk
of shame…arriving home at 8am dressed in last night’s clothes…..)
It’s fascinating. One
smell and you have a whole story in your imagination. You must try it.
