Today I am wearing Vent de Folie by Annick Goutal.
Hmmm, not bad, but as yet not fabulous either. My first sniff reminded me a little of the
smell of wet paper (and no, I’m not smelling it on a stick, It is definitely on
my skin!).
I love the suggestion (courtesy of the blurb) that the
perfume is for ‘a free and bold, optimistic and spontaneous young woman who
embraces her life in a wind of craziness’ (Vent de Folie translates to wind of
craziness).
Am I picking up free and bold, crazy winds from this
perfume? No, I’m still picking up wet
paper, but at least there is now a fruity juiciness with a hint of fresh
floral.
Identifying the breakdown of the ingredients is interesting
– the light floral comes from sweet pea and rose geranium created with a lot of
help from the aroma chemical hedione, a warm, sweet, airy aroma that radiates
floral notes.
The juicy fruity notes are blood orange, blackcurrant and
raspberry. Wrapped up with the floral elements the perfume emerges smelling
of….wet paper wrapped around fruit and flowers.
Cedarwood and musk round this perfume off. I’m hoping that these make their presence
known soon and move the perfume on from school-art-room-paper-mache
–mould-it-round-a-balloon-to-make-a-bowl.
I don’t know why I’m back there creating a bowl…perhaps my wind of
craziness is paper mache, pvc glue and dose of creativity.
I like the memories, I was proud of those bowls! I’m just not sure that I like the perfume as
much yet.
