Jersey by Les Exclusifs de Chanel

Today I am wearing Jersey by Les Exclusifs de Chanel.

It’s lavender, beautiful lavender surrounded by jasmine and rose (of course!), wild flowers and grass. Lavender is the most dominant, but it has been softened by the addition of the other garden flowers.
Vanilla, musk and tonka bean offer a simple base note ensemble.  They add a slight odd sweetness to the lavender and wild flower mix.

Somehow I think this blend shouldn’t work, but it does.  I confess it is a little weird, but I like it.  It’s different.

In Coco Chanel’s height of fashion time, jersey was typically only used for sailor’s jumpers and men’s undergarments (how very itchy), but Coco Chanel transformed fashion by re- introducing it in the form of an elegant dress instantly giving it chic feminine appeal .

This transformation is translated into the perfume.  Lavender, often considered a ‘go to’ aroma for modest masculine scents, has been blended with sensuous, feminine notes of musk and vanilla giving a sophisticated twist to the perfume.

Essentially the perfume has been transformed, losing its masculine association giving it chic feminine appeal.

Clever eh?
