Ombre de Hyacinth by Tom Ford

Today I am wearing Ombre de Hyacinth by Tom Ford (Jardin Noir Collection)

Ooh-er. Not what I was expecting at all. Hyacinth floral it is not. Green, green and more green with a little fustiness more like. OK, a little floral hyacinth has just poked its head up and said to me ‘I am here, please don’t dispute that. I will try harder to stand out’.

No wonder it is green, it has galbanum laced through it running from top to bottom. There is also violet leaf, magnolia, pink pepper, jasmine, frankincense, musk and benzoin – a truly unique aromatic concoction. Oh yes, silly me – of course there is hyacinth too. It just raised its head yet again to complain I keep missing it. OK hyacinth, I acknowledge your presence (but galbanum is stronger than you are!).

Do I like it? Yes for the fact that it is so different and distinct.

No for the fact that I was expecting hyacinth and hardly got any.

Maybe for the fact that the hyacinth is trying so hard to be my friend and come out to play.

I’ll give it longer before I decide for sure.
