Perfume Thursday: Nina by Nina Ricci

This week we've been wearing Nina by Nina Ricci, as it features this week's chosen aroma, Green Apple. Nina by Nina Ricci is a perfume targeted and marketed at a younger audience, heavily focusing on ideas of innocence, femininity and everything pretty and pink, in their campaigns.

The perfume's composition is also typically youthful. With citrus fruits and florals galore, this perfume is almost as sweet as it gets. Included in perfume is Green Apple, Lemon, Lime, Peony, Datura, Praline, Cedarwood, Apple Tree and Musk.

The bold and brash opening of Lemon, Lime and Apple have given us mixed opinions. On one hand it's been described as lovely and on the other it's been described as sour toilet cleaner. On Bryony's skin she argues that it's far to sour and sharp to enjoy, yet Sally and Nickie both commented on its lovely juiciness and freshness.

As it develops the vibrancy of the tart apple and citrus notes calms slightly, leaving behind a more balanced and rounded scent. Despite it making us feel predominantly girlie, many of us felt too old for the perfume; leaving us longing for our more familiar, 'mature' perfume choices. There's a brief moment where the Praline comes through like caramel and the woody/musk scents come forward but it's all over far to quickly because on each of us the perfume didn't last more than hour.

The majority of agree that we wouldn't repurchase Nina because it simply doesn't last long enough. Despite liking the smell of the perfume as a whole (Bryony not included!) we felt it was more youthful than what we'd usually go for and felt it was shame it was so short lived. We were expecting a bit more from this well-loved perfume.

One thing to praise the perfume on, however, is its ability to, despite containing a lot of sweet, floral scents, not smell sickly. Instead of being sickly sweet, it's crisp, tart and fresh which is quite refreshing when compared to other more girlie, youthful and predominantly sweet fragrances.

Our final verdict? Fab for a summer's day as it's uplifting and bright. The chunky red apple shaped bottle is lovely and fits in with the perfume's overall image perfectly. We just wish there were a bit more too it after the initial intensity.

Has anyone else tried Nina by Nina Ricci? Let us know what you think!
