Perfume Thursday: Rihanna - Reb'l Fleur

There is a some what of a stigma attached to celebrity perfumes in that you almost feel guilty for enjoying them or embarrassed to say which perfume you're wearing if the name that rolls off your tongue doesn't belong to the most successful of perfume houses. But what if a celebrity perfume is truly wonderful, has great silage and simply ticks all the right boxes, because that's what this week's perfume, Reb'l Fleur by Rihanna, does.

We're not ashamed to admit it, we love Reb'l Fleur (some of us love it more than others) and it's taken us by surprise as we had predetermined opinions of it as soon as it we heard it was by Rihanna (there's that stigma again).
Composed of red berries, peach, plum and the most sophisticated of floral notes including tuberose, violet and hibiscus the perfume explodes in a wave of exotic sweetness. Interestingly, the majority of first impressions here believed it was too sweet. But as the smooth musk, amber and vanilla base comes forward the sweetness is balanced out tremendously leaving a sumptuous and warming dry down.

One thing that can't be ignored is the tropical tones that come forward in Reb'l Fleur. It effortlessly transports you straight to a sandy beach decorated with palm trees thanks to the addition of coconut water which makes the perfume feel warm and whole.

As mentioned briefly, the initial spray leaves an intense scent that would be best suited in a 13-year-old's perfume collection, but it doesn't take long for the sophisticated, elegant finish to take centre stage as the coconut water continues to float in and out.

One of the greatest things about the perfume - perhaps not if you're not a fan of Rihanna - is that the perfume reflects her. Born in Barbados, the perfume is heavily and proudly situated in Rihanna's exotic, enviable roots thanks to the perfume's overriding tropical/paradise-esque tones.

The bottle design is also elegant and stunning. Said to mimic the heel of a high heel (if you turn it upside down you can kind of see it), the black topper is decorated with a sparkly gold ring and a black matte ribbon effect that runs down the glass bottle.

Reb'l Fleur is a very suitable name for the perfume, all things considered. The floral-sweetness of the perfume makes it great for day time fun, yet the dry down makes it perfect for unpredictable hot summer nights.

Has anyone tried Reb'l Fleur or any other of the Rihanna perfumes? Let us know!
