Our aroma of the week is gardenia, a beautiful floral so we were delighted when Sally selected Carolina Herrera's 212 VIP perfume as it has gardenia weaved gently into the perfume.

The advertising for this perfume teases you since it declares it is for special people, A-listers, VIPS, those on the party list, those given exclusive entrance to top night clubs.....so our expectations were set that this was going to be very very special indeed.

Now ok, so we may be a little spoilt in our choices of perfume but if this is the perfume designed for superstars, then we'll give it a miss thank you.  Don't get us wrong, we like it and we'd happily wear it.......you can feel that there is a *but* coming on can't you...

Here's is our *but*....  but it just doesn't deliver on the 'I feel so special when I'm wearing this' front.  Surprisingly, even though this perfume contains rum, passionfruit, gardenia, musk, tonka and vanilla it doesn't deliver what we thought it would deliver.  It isn't overly floral (which is good), but it isn't overly fruit either (probably another good thing for some of us).  What it is is sweet, not quite as sweet as Thierry Mugler's Angel, but sweet none-the-less.  Usually sweet and long-lasting come hand in hand, but two hours into a liberal spray of this, we were all stretching our olfactory glands trying hard to persuade them that they could still detect 212 VIP.  To no avail.

If this is a party perfume, it doesn't have stamina or staying power.  A bit of a party pooper really and not the party animal we were hoping for.

Our verdict is that the perfume is not outstanding, daring or bold just pleasant, easy wearing and well - normal.  Normal without decent sillage or tenacity.

This perfume was chosen for as this week's Perfume Thursday it includes gardenia, which is our aroma of the week. For a free sample of gardenia, place an order with us on Friday 27th June 2014 and we'll include it for you.

Has anyone worn or known someone who has worn 212 VIP? Did they feel better than we do about it?  Let us know! We'd love to hear from you...
