Premiere Danse by Paul Emilien

Today I am wearing Premiere Danse by Paul Emilien

No I hadn’t heard of it either so I did a little research online and found that this perfume ‘is inspired by great worldly balls’.  Of all the things…and then it dawned on me, Premiere Danse!  Of course – first dance, dancing at a ball.  Ah ha, that makes sense now.

It’s bitter sweet – the perfume, not the dance.  I can smell mandarin but an unripe green mandarin, mingled with juicy berries and a hint of black currant.  The middle layer is more floral with whisps of mimosa and violet.  It is an interesting arrangement culminating in a sweeter layer of labdanum, musk, frankincense, amber, vetiver and benzoin.

It doesn’t change much over time, the bitter sweetness lingers throughout.  It is elegant and slightly stand-offish.  No dancing diva this one, but one for the discerning, one who insists on having her dance card marked up rather than accept your invitation on the spur of the moment.

I rather like it.
