Rose Poivree by The Different Company

Today I am wearing Rose Poivree by The Different Company.

Rose and pepper – intriguing. Can’t wait.

Oh first impressions is a firework. That kind of post-burning smell that you get when a rocket is shooting up into the sky about to burst into a thousand stars to the tunes of ‘oooh, ahhh’.

Second impression is earth. Earth in a garden pot with a little floral rose bush growing in it. OK, so that’s a bonus that we have slight hint of roses.

The perfume contains civet – I can detect that but not in great farty wafts, it is subtle and works well keeping the perfume dirty and rasping. The peppery spike is delivered courtesy of both pink and black pepper boosted by a beautiful coriander (which goes mostly unnoticed in this dirty rose garden). Vetiver is here in swathes providing earth, mud and smoke….and then of course there is rose a-plenty. The perfume is offering me more rose than dirt now.

It’s interesting and it certainly is different. Would I wear it? No – I would not want a dirty, earthy, muddy rose aroma to emanate from my skin, it may turn heads but not for the right reasons!
