Hmmm - a perfume incorporating the name of a delicious drink we're rather fond of - are we going to feel the sand between our toes, the warmth of the sun and be moving to the Salsa beat?
Oh how we long for that on the beach laid back pace of life - we spray this perfume and wait to be transported.......
First sniff is full of mint, mint and more mint - way too much mint!
We're not sure mint as a predominant smell in a perfume is quite for us, we love the freshness of garden mint and the powerful-nasal-clearing properties of peppermint in products for the body but this is a bit too much - would anyone coming into close proximity think we had showered in mouth wash? Lori has a cold this week and even she could still smell the mint!
Phew! we're swiftly moving through the mint phase, although the other top notes of lime, rum and strawberry (our chosen aroma of the week is strawberry aldehyde C16) are somewhat non-existent at first but as the perfume develops and the initial aroma starts to settle the lime is the first to come through, combining to form an aroma that sparked a long buried memory of citrus sweets (imagine citrus polo mints!). The rum and strawberry then follow on fairly quickly - the rum adds a gentle warming spicy element but doesn't swamp the fruitiness, and the dry down leaves you with the scent of juicy strawberries - but strawberries in a grown up way.
Sally is able to detect a little vanilla but the other base notes of patchouli, vetiver, labdanum and oakmoss seem to have gone awol.
If we were to wear this perfume we would spray at least half an hour before meeting anyone, to give it time to settle and show it's true colours. It's a very clever perfume in that it changes hugely and well worth a spray on the back of your hand just for the experience.
We think its the fragrance equivalent of starting your evening on a classic mojito as you enjoy the music on the beach, then finishing with a strawberry daiquiri as the sun sets over the ocean.........
