Perfume Thursday: Aromatics Elixir by Clinique

Aromatics Elixir by Clinique is not for the fainthearted. With one spray you can be sure everyone around you will know you're wearing it...

It's bold and womanly, completely out-there and confident but not in a showing-off-kind-of-way. The sharp, herbal top notes pave the way for some softer, more powdery florals including geranium, rose and various white flowers to give it a sumptuous velvety warmth.

But when the base notes make their first appearance, that's when the perfume really takes hold. Earthy, damp, mossy patchouli and oakmoss take centre stage but are infused with bursts of sweetness from the floral heart to make it wearable.

While it smells lovely, it isn't one that many of us would choose to wear. It has a vintage-charity-shop-elderly-lady scent, which isn't a bad thing. It's comforting and warming just not one that the younger members of the PF Team would enjoy wearing. It lasts longer than other perfume we've had the pleasure of wearing recently; one spray is all you need for the entire day and more!

It's a potent blend of some hefty aromas and you can be sure to turn some heads while wearing it. It's perfect for this autumnal time of year as its warm, spiciness makes you think of cold evenings, warmed by the fire with a hot chocolate in hand.
