Perfume Thursday -: Gucci Flora by Gucci

Courtesy of one of the younger members of the PF family (thank you, Zara) our perfume of the week is Gucci Flora by Gucci.

Containing our aroma of the week - osmanthus - and as the name fully suggests this is an out and out floral with peony being the other main floral note.   Launched in 2009 and created by perfumers from the house of Firmenich, it's girly and feminine all the way.  It starts quite strong and powerful but as it settles there are definite suede and woody tones (patchouli and sandalwood laced with pink pepper) but they are beautifully subtle and enhance the floral notes rather than detract from or overpower them.
Sally pictures herself in a meadow, with a floaty dress and beautiful music swishing and swaying whilst making her way through the wild flowers....... aahhh how lovely.  Whilst for some, floral perfumes create images of vintage perfumes from years gone by, this to us crosses the divide and would appeal no matter what age you are - we've all agreed whether you are aged 9 or 99 you could happily wear this!!
We didn't find the perfume changed too much as we wore it, no big surprises appearing as it dried down, but we like that.  Sometimes it's good to know that what you smell on that initial burst will last and stay with you throughout.  The longevity is quite amazing, a couple of sprays lasts a long time so value for money gets a big happy tick from us.

Whether you are a fan of floral perfumes or not this is definitely one to try.  Great staying power and a beautiful bottle to boot with a pretty leather bow, it would happily compliment any dressing table giving the wearer that little touch of luxury we all deserve from time to time!
