The Scent of Departure New York City

Today I am wearing The Scent of Departure New York City.  The nose behind this Scent of Departure range is Gérald Ghislain, he of the hugely interesting Histoires de Parfums range.

The Scent of Departures range features perfumes representing the indigenous and imaginary aromas over 20 different cities.  New York features apple – so good he includes it twice in the form of green and red apples.

The overall aroma is sweet and juicy - more red apple in here than green then.  It is red apple laced with caramel, vanilla, white musk, jasmine, lilac, rose and lotus flower giving a sweet, juicy, fresh, watery aroma.

If it conjures up any imagery of New York then I guess I’m strolling through Central Park in spring time, the smell of blossom is in the air, the breeze is warm and the anticipation of a few days in the big city is thrilling me.

I think if I was to pick smells that remind me of New York I’d pick a very different set. I’d include cinnamon, coffee, hot dogs, doughnuts, traffic, dollar bills, steam escaping from manhole covers.  I‘d love to smell those aromas but I’m not sure I’d want to wear them as a scent though!
