Rouge Nocturne by Terry de Gunzberg

Today I am wearing Rouge Nocturne by Terry de Gunzberg.

WOW!  Mind blowingly aromatic!  I think you could detect me a good few yards away.  Luckily it is mostly pleasing on the nasal palette and not one that I feel impelled to wash off.  If it’s too strong for others in the office, I apologise, my please allow me my indulgence today.

The colour of the perfume is initially a shock – it looks like a glass of Ribena, gloriously magenta and rich.  I sprayed my wrist and the back of my hand, I’d hesitate about spraying this onto a piece of pale coloured clothing.

And the aroma?  Roses, roses and more roses.  That’s pretty much it although there is a layer of patchouli in here too to give me roses in a flower bed rather than cut roses in a vase.  Beautiful heavily scented roses, the kind of roses that I hope Mina Suvari is lying on when famously photographed for the film American Beauty.  Intoxicating, rich, wonderful and heady roses.

As it dries down it begins to sweeten and smell a little like a Dior lipstick with a hint of powder.  I preferred the initial rose blast, but overall, this perfume has a tick in the box next to ‘Do you like it enough to wear it?’, but not the box next to ‘Do you like it enough to pay £127 (per 100ml) for it’…..
